The photography of Dick Pond started in 1950. He attended Brooks Institute of Photography in Santa Barbara, California for two years. He specialized in portraiture and commercial photography. While at Brooks, Dick was president of the student council for one and a half years, and he graduated with only the 10th achievement award for portraiture in the school's history.

For years, Dick worked with some of the finest master photographers in the country, including Everett Kroeger, Bob Sharpe and Bob Pritchard. He also managed two photography studios for a few years before opening his own studio in San Marcos, Texas called Pond Studio.

After 27 years, a million negatives and operating a downtown studio, Dick decided to move his work into his home and do the type of photography which he dearly loves: weddings and outdoor, environmental photography. No more fake lighting and scenes. The natural colors and soft lighting always work best.

Dick has 50 years of experience with various kinds of photography. He has photographed thousands of seniors and more than a thousand weddings in San Marcos alone. He has won approximately 100 national and state awards for his work. Some of Dick's hobbies include dog obedience training and showing, as well as, fishing and hunting. He has been married 36 years to a wonderful wife, Paula. He also has two great sons, Russell and Randy.

Dick specializes in good, clean wedding candids that are done very quickly. His motto is "I don't want the bride to think she has married the photographer." It is his desire to project the feeling of the wedding, be it formal or a fun one. He works very hard to portray the feelings into all his photographs, whether it is a wedding or portrait.
